Sunday 15th March 2026 – Parish Family Mass for Mothering Sunday | Laetare Sunday.

__________

Dear friends,

It is right and good for us to gather as God’s people: to give thanks for God’s goodness, to hear the Word proclaimed, and to be renewed through word and sacrament.

As we continue our Lenten journey, we come this week to Mothering Sunday, also known as Laetare Sunday, a moment of gentle joy and refreshment in the midst of the penitential season. On this day the Church invites us to pause, rejoice, and give thanks for the many ways in which God’s nurturing love is revealed among us.

Traditionally this day is a time to remember our Mother Church — St Thomas’, Orchard Street, Portman Square — from which our parish traces its roots. It is also a day when we give thanks for mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, and all who show a mothering love and influence in our lives, nurturing others with care, compassion, patience, and faith.

In giving thanks for those who have cared for us, guided us, and helped shape our lives, we are reminded of the deeper truth that God’s love for us is tender, faithful, and sustaining, drawing us always closer to the life of Christ.

You are warmly invited to join us for our Parish Family Mass as we celebrate Mothering Sunday together — gathering as a parish family to worship, to give thanks, and to continue our Lenten pilgrimage strengthened by word and sacrament.

All are welcome.
