Sunday 1 November 2026: Parish Mass for the Feast of All Saints Day

___________________________________________

You are warmly invited to join us at for our Parish Mass at 10.00am as we celebrate the Feast of All Saints, giving thanks to God for the countless men and women of faith who have gone before us and whose lives continue to inspire us in our own journey of discipleship.

As we gather for worship, our readings draw our attention to the great communion of saints, the boundless love of God, and the promise of eternal life in Christ. All Saints Day reminds us that holiness is not reserved for a chosen few, but is the calling of every Christian, as we seek to follow Jesus in faith, hope and love.

In our first reading from the Book of Revelation, St John is given a glorious vision of a great multitude that no one can count, drawn from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne of God and the Lamb. Clothed in white robes, they join the angels in worship and thanksgiving, proclaiming that salvation belongs to God. We hear the beautiful promise that those who have endured suffering will find their rest in God’s presence, where they shall hunger and thirst no more, and where God himself will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

The Psalm invites us to join in this great song of praise and thanksgiving: “O praise the Lord with me: and let us magnify his Name together.” In its words we are reminded that God hears the cries of his people, delivers them from their fears and remains close to all who place their trust in him. As we celebrate the saints, we give thanks for their witness to this same faithfulness and love.

In our second reading from the First Letter of St John, we hear the wonderful assurance of God’s love: “See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are.” These words remind us that our identity as God’s children is already a gift of grace, even as we continue to grow towards the fullness of life promised to us in Christ. The saints are those in whom that grace has borne fruit, encouraging us to live in the same hope.

Finally, in St Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus teaches his disciples through the Beatitudes, declaring blessed those who are poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. In these words, Jesus reveals the character of his kingdom and the true meaning of holiness. The saints are not simply remembered for extraordinary achievements, but for lives shaped by these very qualities of humility, compassion, courage and faithfulness.

Together, these Scriptures remind us that the Feast of All Saints is both a celebration of those who have gone before us and an invitation to holiness in our own lives. We belong to one great family of faith, united in Christ across heaven and earth. Surrounded by that great cloud of witnesses, we are encouraged to persevere in faith, to love and serve one another, and to trust in the promise of God’s eternal kingdom.

As we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, we join our prayers and praises with those of the saints and angels, giving thanks for the hope of resurrection and the communion we share in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Whether you are a regular member of our congregation, visiting for the first time, or simply curious to discover more about the Christian faith and the meaning of All Saints Day, you will receive a very warm welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you as we celebrate this joyful feast together.
