Sunday 25 October 2026: Parish Mass with the Sacrament of Holy Baptism

___________________________________________

You are warmly invited to join us for this special celebration as we gather around Monty, his parents, sister, godparents, family and friends, sharing in their joy and promising to support him as he begins his journey of Christian faith.

Our Scriptures remind us of God’s unfailing love and the calling we share as members of his family. In the Book of Isaiah, God speaks words of reassurance and belonging: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” These words speak powerfully to the gift of baptism, through which we are welcomed into God’s family and assured of his presence throughout our lives. In St Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus teaches us that the greatest commandments are to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love our neighbour as ourselves.

Together, these readings invite us to reflect on baptism as both a gift and a calling: the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith, sustained by God’s grace and expressed through love, service and care for one another. As Monty is baptised with water in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, we are reminded of our own baptismal promises and our shared responsibility to nurture faith, offer encouragement and shine with the light of Christ in the world.

As we welcome Monty into the fellowship of the Church, we pray that he may grow in faith, hope and love, surrounded by the care of his family and the wider Christian community, and that the light of Christ may guide him throughout his life.

Whether you are a regular member of our congregation, joining us to celebrate Monty’s baptism, visiting for the first time, or simply curious about the Christian faith, you will receive a very warm welcome.

We look forward to welcoming you.
